Testing & Commissioning in Carlisle & Cumbria

Commissioning is where a system proves it performs. Saints Contracting tests, balances and validates mechanical and electrical installations so that buildings across Carlisle, Cumbria and the North West are handed over safe, efficient and fully documented, rather than simply energised and left for the estates team to work out.

On the mechanical side that means setting to work and balancing heating, chilled water and ventilation systems, proving flow rates and temperatures against the design, verifying control strategies and witnessing plant performance under load. On the electrical side it means inspection and testing, certification, emergency lighting and fire alarm verification, and proving the interfaces between systems that only show up when everything runs together.

We commission our own installations as a matter of course, and we also provide testing and commissioning as a standalone service where another contractor has carried out the installation. That independent role is a common one on public sector projects in the region, where a client needs confidence that what has been installed matches what was specified before the retention is released.

Integrated systems testing matters most on the low carbon projects now common across Cumbria. A heat pump, its buffer, its back-up heat source and its BMS controls can each test out correctly in isolation and still deliver poor efficiency together. We commission the system as a whole and optimise the operating parameters so that the building performs the way the design intended.

Every commissioning package is handed over with the certification, results and O&M information required for compliance, delivered under UKAS accredited ISO 9001 and ISO 45001 management systems by a Gas Safe registered and NAPIT approved team.
